We’re starting a new beginners course at Koba BJJ in Dorking, Surrey.
The course will run for 4 weeks, on Wednesdays from 6–7pm, starting on 5 November. The cost for the full course is £50. No previous experience or equipment is needed to take part.
You’ll learn some fundamental skills and start to understand the concepts and strategies that make grappling such an effective and interesting martial art.
We’ll cover:
- The key ideas behind grappling and what you are actually trying to achieve
- The basic rules of training and competition
- Simple but effective techniques from different areas of grappling, including takedowns, controlling the top position, pins and submissions
By the end of the course, you’ll have a good overall understanding of how grappling works, what you can expect from training BJJ at Koba, and the skills and knowledge you’ll need to continue developing as a grappler.
Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a great martial art to learn. It’s challenging, practical and fun, while also giving you a good way to stay active and engaged with your fitness.
Koba has a full-time dojo with changing facilities, so you won’t need much to get started. No equipment is needed for the course. Wear comfortable gym-type clothing without zips or anything that could catch or hurt your training partners. Bring a bottle of water, and perhaps a fresh T-shirt for afterwards.
If you have any questions about the course or want to know more about training at Koba, please get in touch.
We’re looking forward to seeing some new faces on the mats.
